Proverbs 19

Key Verses that jumped at me
Proverbs 19:12
The king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion,
But his favor is like dew on the grass.

What spoke to me in the verse
Pastor wrote in one of his devotional about Proverbs 19:12: Who is the king that this verse refers to? It is our Lord Jesus! So when the devil goes about like a roaring lion, he is trying to impersonate the King. He is trying to make you feel as if God is angry with you. Every time you hear preaching that leaves you with a sense that God is angry with you, guess what? You have just been roared at! But know this, beloved: God will NEVER be angry with you ever again. He only has to tell us this, but He wanted us to be so sure that He swore in His Word that He would never be angry with us again.

And that reminds me of the sermon Pastor just preached today!!! That God is dealing with us not for who we are but according to what Jesus has done for us at the cross. And the wrath of God have been exhausted at the Cross. With that, we are not under the King’s wrath but His favor. Look at this. "When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it". Silent night. When night came, that's when Jesus was born. Dew speaks of favour and the fact that it falls on the grass fresh every morning (and not on the ground) reminds us that His favor rains down on us like dew on the grass every morning!

Pro 19:2,7,27
2 Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge,
And he sins who hastens with his feet.
7 All the brothers of the poor hate him;
How much more do his friends go far from him!
He may pursue them with words, yet they abandon him.
27 Cease listening to instruction, my son,
And you will stray from the words of knowledge.

What v7 spoke to me, is that when the Lord came in the first coming, His people never believed in Him. And yet, the Lord went to the cross where He bore all the unjust in Him, so that today we can come boldly before God and we are seen through His eyes as holy, perfect and without any spot. And to pursue Jesus, we just need to keep on feeding on grace-filled words, messages that are Christ-centred, and being constantly conscious of Father's love for us, as well as meditating on the living words of God. And today's devotional in Ps Prince app is so good, reminding us that when we do that, our heart will be filled with His grace, peace, wisdom and joy. And the Lord is always with us.
And v2 and v27 reminded me that when we keep on feeding on the word of God whenever we could every day, knowledge will come naturally, through the grace of the Lord. And so timely in this season, as knowledge of skills or knowledge of topics that are essential, can only come through the wisdom of God when we are conscious of Jesus' love, and keep on meditating on His words in His love letter to us.
